NEMA 4/12/13 Rated Terminals

The NEMA 4, NEMA 12, and NEMA 13 specifications are provided to rate different enclosure types, their applications and the environmental conditions they are protected against when properly installed.

NEMA 4 – Enclosures intended for outdoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against windblown dust and rain, splashing water, hose-directed water and damage from external ice formation.

NEMA 12 – Enclosures intended for indoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against circulating dust, falling dirt and dripping or light splashing of non-corrosive liquids.

NEMA 13 – Enclosures intended for indoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against circulating dust; falling dirt; and spraying, splashing and seepage of non-corrosive liquids.
